How Do We Want to Grow?

What the Strom Thurmond Institute study does not do is identify where residents across the region believe growth should go and what it should look like.

In April 2009, Ten at the Top and the Urban Land Institute sponsored the Upstate Reality Check, which brought together more than 400 leaders from across the region to identify potential land use patterns that might be preferred by residents in the Upstate.

The result was the identification of four potential future patterns for growth: dispersed, corridor, compact and rural village development.
